Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is a Party Con?
Our definition of a Party Con: A party oriented convention with informal/minimal programming. Basically, some gaming, some contests, a dealers' room, video room, parties, etc., run from a hotel. Think of it as a weekend-long party with friends. The convention provides a relaxed environment for people who enjoy science fiction to meet new friends, talk about their interests, and have FUN!
2. Do I have to be at least 18 years old to attend?
No, but for children 12 and under, an adult MUST accompany them at ALL TIMES. Children 13 to 17 must have a parent or guardian on premises during the convention.
3. Can I drink alcohol at the convention?
You MUST be at least 21 years of age to consume alcohol and NOT in the public areas. Anyone under the legal age who is caught with alcohol, and the people with you, will be ejected from the convention with NO REFUND. Also, if you are going to drink, know your limit! "I was drunk." will not be tolerated as an excuse for bad behavior. You will be ejected from the convention with NO REFUND.
4. Are the party rooms free attendance?
You must have a Lazy Dragon Con Badge to attend the functions held at the convention. Otherwise, most parties are free to the attendees. Some parties may have restrictions, such as age, invite only, etc. Although some party rooms may have alcohol, consider it as a BYOB if you are going to attend and drink. Not all people can afford to provide drinks for everyone at a con, so be polite if they do not have what you failed to bring.
5. Can I host a room party?
Why, YES, you can. Please click on "Party Rooms" for details.
6. I live locally, so why should I stay at the hotel?
You are supporting the convention. We need to reach a certain number of room nights to keep the cost of the convention space as low as possible, which in turn keeps badge cost lower, and allows us money for other stuff (like parties). It's safer. You don't have to worry about driving home after a long day at the con and it also allows you to party all night and just fall over rather than risk an accident going home. You have a place to crash, a place to change outfits, and a place to store your many purchases from the dealers room.
7. I paid to get into the convention. Why do I have to pay for an autograph from a guest?
Not everyone who comes to a convention will want to get an autograph. They may just want to meet and greet the guests. Our guests take time away from their work (which pays their bills) to attend the convention. In order to help keep costs down to bring them to our show, some may charge a fee to sign their autographs. You now have the opportunity not only to meet and talk with them, but also to have them sign your merchandise or picture, which otherwise, you may not get the chance to do.
8. What time does the convention run?
Registration will open at noon Friday 7/18/08. The convention will open to the public at 2 pm Friday and close 3pm Sunday.
9. What are the Dealer Room hours?
Dealers Room Hours are Friday: 2pm - 8pm, Saturday: 10am - 6pm, and Sunday: 10am - 3pm.
10. Is Lazy Dragon Con related to Dragon*Con?
NO. Lazy Dragon Con is NOT affiliated, associated or run by Dragon*Con.
11. Why is your Charity goal amount $1,630.00?
This is how much we raised for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation by the end of Lazy Dragon Con 2007. Now we are hoping to meet or exceed that amount by the end of Lazy Dragon Con 2008.
12. Why haven't you answered my question?
Only because you haven't asked us yet. As people ask us stuff, we will keep adding to this page.
