With elegantly simple gameplay, Ticket to Ride can be learned in 3 minutes, while providing players with intense strategic and tactical decisions every turn. Players collect cards of various types of train cars they then use to claim railway routes in North America. The longer the routes, the more points they earn. Additional points come to those who fulfill Destination Tickets – goal cards that connect distant cities; and to the player who builds the longest continuous route.
“The rules are simple enough to write on a train ticket – each turn you either draw more cards, claim a route or get additional Destination Tickets”, says Ticket to Ride author, Alan R. Moon. “The tension comes from being forced to balance greed – adding more cards to your hand; and fear – losing a critical route to a competitor.”
Monopoly is the best-selling commercial board game in the world. Players compete to acquire wealth through stylized economic activity involving the buying, rental and trading of properties using play money, as players take turns moving around the board according to the roll of the dice. The game is named after the economic concept of monopoly, the domination of a market by a single seller.
It is published by Parker Brothers, an imprint of Hasbro. According to Hasbro, since Charles Darrow patented the game in 1935, approximately 750 million people have played the game, making it "the most played [commercial] board game in the world." The 1999 Guinness Book of Records cited Hasbro's previous statistic of 500 million people having played Monopoly.
The high-stakes game of chance preferred by D&D characters of all classes and levels!
Three-Dragon Ante is a fast-paced noncollectable card game based on the tavern games played by characters within the D&D game world. Three-Dragon Ante can be played as a standalone card game when there isn't enough time for a full-fledged D&D adventure, or it can be played as part of a role-playing campaign-where a character's abilities can give him or her a unique winning edge.
For 2-6 players. Great for dedicated D&D gamers or anyone interested in a cool, fast, fantasy-based game of chance.
In the year 2210, the world is at war.
As the leader of a warring faction, you control the destiny of your people. On the Earth, in the great underwater domed cities beneath the oceans, in orbit, and even on the Moon, you must marshal your forces, send forth your troops, and hire the right commanders to crush your enemies. Build alliances if you dare, but be wary of whom you trust. Energy is the currency of the 23rd century; spend yours wisely and you just might conquer the world--and beyond.
Who will rule the Ancient Earth -- and beyond?
Enter a time of myths and legends. Enter the world of Risk Godstorm, where ancient faiths and fears rule. Battle across the Earth and in the dark regions below. Harness spiritual forces to strike with devastating power. Command five ancient cultures -- Greek, Celtic, Babylonian, Norse, and Egyptian -- in a continent-spanning battle that will determine whose civilization reigns supreme. Rest assured, the gods will not sit idle in this war.
You and a few of your millionaire friends have invested in a plot of land in the heart of Las Vegas. Each of you has one year to plan and build a luxury hotel/casino on the site. Just to make things interesting, you've put a little wager on your venture -- when the doors open, the builder of the most famous hotel/casino wins ownership of the entire block!
Resources are limited, so you'll have to outbid each other to get the best contractors to work on your project. With the right combination of restaurants, lounges, gaming rooms, and other attractions -- along with some well-timed publicity -- the jewel of the Entertainment Capital of the World will be yours!
It's a lot like a real fight - only without all the slippery blood. Lunch Money is an exciting, fast-paced, multi-player card game that combines dark psychological images with the raw dynamics of a merciless street fight. Each player starts the game with fifteen counters. Each player is dealt five cards. You play cards to take your opponents' counters from them and to defend your own counter pile. A player who runs out of counters is "unconscious" and out of the game. The object of the game is to be the last person with any counters left; in other words, the last person still "conscious" and in the game.
A clever tile-laying game. The southern French city of Carcassonne is famous for its unique Roman and Medieval fortifications. The players develop the area around Carcassonne and deploy their followers on the roads, in the cities, in the cloisters, and in the fields. The skill of the players to develop the area will determine who is victorious.
Abstract strategy game where players move disc-shaped pieces across an 8 by 8 cross-hatched ("checker") board. Pieces only move diagonally, and only one space at a time. If a player can move one of his pieces so that it "jumps" over an adjacent piece of their opponent and into an empty space, that player captures the opponent's disc. Jumping moves must be taken when possible, thereby creating a strategy game where players offer up jumps in exchange for setting up the board so that they jump even more pieces on their turn. A player wins by removing all of his opponent's pieces from the board or by blocking the opponent so that he has no more moves.
Quite possibly the most popular traditional board game in the West, Chess is a two player abstract strategy game that represents medieval warfare on an 8x8 board with alternating light and dark squares. Opposing pieces, traditionally designated white and black, are initially lined up on either side. Each type of piece has a unique form of movement, and capturing generally occurs when a piece via its movement occupies the square of an opposing piece. Players take turns moving one of their pieces in an attempt to make captures, attack, defend, or develop their positions. Chess games can end in "checkmate," resignation, or one of several types of draws. Chess between two highly skilled players can be a beautiful thing to watch, and a game can provide great entertainment even for novices.
Yahtzee is a classic dice game played with 5 dice. Each player's turn consists of rolling the dice up to 3 times in hope of making 1 of 13 categories. Examples of categories are 3 of a kind, 4 of a kind, straight, full house, etc. Each player tries to fill in a score for each category, but this is not always possible. When all players have entered a score or a zero for all 13 categories, the game ends and total scores are compared.
