The Laws of Lazy Dragon Con

Lazy Dragon Con will have Security around the clock during the entire convention.  We want everyone to have fun during the course of the convention.  These laws are being imposed to ensure that our attendees enjoy themselves and remain safe.

Enforcement of these rules is enacted with ZERO Tolerance.

No warnings will be given.

Any infraction of these rules will be met with expulsion from the convention without a refund as well as possible law enforcement involvement.

Registration will open at noon Friday 7/18/08.  The convention will open to the public at 2pm Friday and close 3pm Sunday.

These are the Laws to be obeyed if you want to be here.

  1. Lazy Dragon LLC, Lazy Dragon Con, Holiday Inn McKinney, and all affiliates, assumes no responsibility for your personal property, nor will be held responsible for any personal injury or sickness.  By attending Lazy Dragon Con you agree to allow your image to be used on our website and in news documentaries or stories, either filmed by Lazy Dragon or other entities.  All dates, venues and guests are considered tentative and subject to change.

  2. In purchasing your Badge to Lazy Dragon Con, you agree to indemnify and hold Lazy Dragon LLC, Lazy Dragon Con, Holiday Inn McKinney, and all affiliates harmless from and against any and all claims, damages, losses and actions.

  3.  While the convention organizers encourage members to bring their children to Lazy Dragon Con, we ask that parents take an active role in monitoring the events in which their children participate.  Some events (and most parties) may not be suitable for all ages.  Also Lazy Dragon Con does not provide Child Care services and an adult must accompany all children at all times.  Children 12 and under MUST have an adult accompany them at ALL TIMES.  Children 13 to 17 must have a parent or guardian on premises during the convention.

  4. You must have a Lazy Dragon Con Badge to attend the functions held at the convention.  When you are in the convention areas, you must wear your badge. Lost badges will only be replaced once for a fee of $30. Badges must be worn and visible at all times.

  5. All badges are non-refundable.  We will be checking it with our list, and don't think we won't notice if it's fraudulent.

  6. The Lazy Dragon Con Badge remains the property of Lazy Dragon LLC until the close of the convention (or 7:52pm, Sunday, 07/20/08, whichever comes first).  Membership may be revoked at the discretion of the convention.  Lazy Dragon LLC reserves the right to refuse membership at any time.   Lazy Dragon Con Staff/Security reserves the right to remove anyone that is violating the rules or otherwise preventing others from their enjoyment of the Con from the convention premises without a refund.

  7. Photography is for personal use only.  Public dissemination and commercial use strictly prohibited unless approved by Lazy Dragon LLC.

  8. You MUST be at least 21 years of age to consume alcohol and NOT in the public areas.  Anyone under the legal age who is caught with alcohol, and the people with you, will be ejected from the convention with NO REFUND.  Also, if you are going to drink, know your limit!  "I was drunk." will not be tolerated as an excuse for bad behavior.  You will be ejected from the convention with NO REFUND.

  9. All room parties must be registered with the convention.  This will allow the convention to act as an intermediary between you and the Hotel to help avoid problems.

  10. You are responsible for what happens in your hotel room, however, Lazy Dragon LLC reserves the right to revoke your badge if you are disorderly or disruptive without refund.

  11. No illegal substances will be permitted at the convention or on hotel grounds. Violators will be remanded to the authorities and their memberships revoked without refund.

  12. The Hotel has its own rules that must be obeyed, especially the Pool Rules.  Please abide by them.

  13.  Please do not damage the hotel.  Damaging the hotel will qualify any member for rule number 5, and any costs will be charged to said member.

  14. All weapons for costume purposes must be inspected by the Security Staff.  Weapons will be peace bonded and allowed or you will be asked not to carry them.  If a disallowed or non-peace bonded weapon is seen being carried in Convention Areas, it will be taken to the Security Office to be secured.  Any weapon that Security deems unsafe will be confiscated and held until the closing of the convention.  Please read the Weapons Policy below.

  15. No running or other roughhousing on the Con premises.

  16. Lazy Dragon LLC will not permit the selling of merchandise by attendees to other attendees or unauthorized vendors at the convention.

  17. There will be No Smoking except in designated areas.

  18. Lazy Dragon LLC, Lazy Dragon Con, Holiday Inn McKinney, and all affiliates, are not responsible for items lost, missing, or stolen during the convention.  If you find something that is not yours, PLEASE do the responsible thing and turn it in to the Convention or Hotel Staff.

  19. All convention members are expected to respect the dignity of others.  No unsolicited contact, harassment, or verbal abuse will be tolerated.  Physical abuse and criminal conduct will not be tolerated.  Violators will be warned.  Failure to comply will result in revocation of membership without refund.  No public nudity at the convention is permitted, except in closed approved appropriate areas, such as your hotel room.

  20. This should go without saying, but any staff member or patron misrepresenting themselves or the con to anyone else in the con are subject to revocation of membership and removal from the convention event.  Depending on the severity of the infraction, they may be subject to police arrest, or being permanently banned from the convention.  This covers bootleg / fabricated badges or memberships, theft of con property, theft of other patron's property, etc.

  21. All advertised parties are subject to staff/security be able to attend at any time to ensure policies are being followed.

More laws may be passed as need deems.  Please check back to stay current.

Remember: Ignorance of the law is no excuse.

Lazy Dragon Con Weapons Policy

This policy is a combination of convention rules and of the laws of the State of Texas.

Enforcement of these rules is enacted with ZERO Tolerance.

No warnings will be given.

Any infraction of these rules will be met with expulsion from the convention without a refund as well as possible law enforcement involvement.

A weapon is defined as: 

  1. "Illegal knife " means a:
    1. knife  with a blade over five and one-half inches;
    2. hand instrument designed to cut or stab another by being thrown;
    3. dagger, including but not limited to a dirk, stiletto, and poniard;
    4. bowie knife ;
    5. sword; or
    6. spear.
  2. ”Club" means an instrument that is specially designed, made, or adapted for the purpose of inflicting serious bodily injury or death by striking a person with the instrument, and includes but is not limited to the following:
    1. blackjack; 
    2. nightstick;
    3. mace;
    4. tomahawk;
    5. wooden sword (ie: boken, shinai, etc.)

1.      Dealers will only sell weapons to persons at least 18 years of age.  Any dealer selling to minors will be removed from the convention and proper authorities may be notified.

2.      You may only handle or purchase a weapon if you are at least 18 years of age.

3.     All Dealers must box, wrap, or peace tie any weapon that requires it.

4.       Participants may carry weapons (boxed, bagged, and/or piece bonded) as long as they are at least 18 years of age.

5.      Drawing of weaponry, horseplay, or careless handling of weapons in public areas, is not allowed and will result in loss of membership and expulsion from the convention without refund.

6.      All sharpened edges must be sheathed and peace tied.  You will need to check any weapon with Security to make sure that weapon is allowed and properly bound.  Security has final say on whether the weapon may be brought into the convention.  Practice swords and non-sharpened weapons must be tied to the belt or back scabbard.

7.      All staves and pole arms must be kept vertical.

8.      All non-sharpened weapons, wooden, and home-made facsimiles must and will be checked by Con Ops.

9.      NO realistic looking firearms are allowed at Lazy Dragon Con.  All simulated firearms MUST be checked by Security to be approved.  If Security does not allow the weapon, it must be put in your room or vehicle and NOT carried during the convention.

10.  Any participant caught buying a weapon and giving it to a minor will be removed from the convention and proper authorities may be notified.  The minor will be removed as well.

11.  The only time at which live steel or a weapon may be drawn is in a designated area for photo ops.  Please check with Security to know what is a designated area.

12.  Projectile weapons are prohibited.  This includes water pistols (unless being used in a designated game which is announced and approved by Lazy Dragon Con) and any weapon capable of shooting any type of projectiles.

13.  All persons handling weapons do so at their own risk.

All decisions made by the staff regarding the Lazy Dragon Con Weapons Policy are final.  Please note that the Lazy Dragon Con Weapons policy is subject to change and may be done so with or without advance notice.
