Tangs

 

 

TYPES OF TANGS

The tang is the portion of the blade that is inside the handle.  Listed below are the some of the different types of tangs you can expect to find throughout our catalog.

~ Full Tang ~
Entire handle is the tang with handle scales attached to the sides.

~ Rat-Tail Tang ~
The end of the tang is threaded pommel which secures the blade to the handle.
~ Half Tang ~
Approximately 1/2 of the handle is tang.
~ Encapsulated Tang ~
Handle is molded around the tang.
~ Push Tang (1/2 Length)~
The tang is pushed into the handle and fixed in place.
~ Push Tang (Full Length)~
The tang is pushed into the handle and fixed in place.
  ~ Screw Tang ~
A threaded bolt is welded to the tang of the blade which secures the blade to the handle.
